  • Oops! This link appears broken.

So you’re desktop or laptop is running on Windows 7, and you would like to install Google Chrome… but you can’t install it because of this error,

    Google Update Error 0x8004071c?

    Here’s the fix: (source)

    1. Go to the Start menu > Run.
    2. Run regedit. Click OK.
    3. Find and right-click the relevant registry key for your operating system:

    Windows XP: AuditInProgress in HKLM\System\Setup

    Windows Vista: ImageState in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\State

    Windows 7: ImageState inHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\State

    1. Select Modify.
    2. Delete the value. Click OK.
So after successfully installing Google Chrome, you type the address to your favorite site like www.pixelgirlpresents.com and you get,

Oops! This link appears broken. Page not found-connection failure.

Unchecking  ”Use DNS prefetching to improve page load performance” didn’t do the trick?  Try using Google Public DNS, it worked for me.

    Hide folder names

I just found out about this.

Want to hide the name of your files on thumbnail view?

    1) Make sure your folder view is anything but Thumbnail, ex. View > Tiles.

    2) Press SHIFT, hold it, click on VIEW, then THUMBNAIL (again, while SHIFT is on hold).

    3) Just repeat if you want to revert.

    From this.

    wname

    To this.

Plurking How tos and Dress Up your Plurk page

First, I found this site where there are themes for your Plurk page.

    Photobucket

    They’re cute!

    And, now to the goodies..

    1) Creating links! – When I first started using Plurk, I thought it reads html, but it doesn’t, so here’s how you do it.

If you want to post a Plurk message of the link to my blog showing “Kenna’s blog”, type  http://www.heinekenna.com (Kenna’s Blog)

    2) Add a link to your Plurk friend or any Plurk user.

Simply put “@” before their usernames, like @kenna

    3) Make your texts bold, italicized or underlined.

To make the text bold, **text** , to make it italic, *text*, and to underline it, _text_.

    4) Videos and pictures anyone?

To insert images or videos (Youtube),  simple type the URL, Plurk will do the rest. For more info.

To learn more about Plurk and more How tos, go to Ryan Lim’s Unofficial Guide

More? Feel free to add up.

What you should know about your iPod Touch

So you bought an iPod touch, first thing you’ll notice will be the missing manual that should come along with it (I know it’s not difficult to work your way through it, nor cutting off some more trees for the manual ain’t helping the environment) but a manual, with some key features I think is a good idea.

I came up with this then (some things you may already know actually).

    1) Turn off your iPod touch.
    2) Show the Music menu while on HOLD, viewing photos or playing games.
    3) Use the Scientific calculator on your updated iPod Touch (2.0)
    4) View the lyrics of the song you’re playing (available if the song file has lyrics)
    5) Delete videos or e-mails, and songs on your On-The-Go easily.
    6) Take screenshots!
    7) Edit your texts.
    8) Did you know that you can actually read presentations and spreadsheets directly from you iPod???
    9) Remove applications without iTunes.

    1) Turn off your iPod touch.

Hold the HOLD/POWER button (top left), wait for the “Slide to turn off prompt” and do so. Viola, it’s OFF! To turn it ON, press the HOLD/POWER Button again (hold it for a few seconds) and the Apple logo should come up.

    2) Show the Music menu while on HOLD, viewing photos or playing games.

Click “the button” twice (there are only two buttons, the HOLD/POWER button, and “the button”).

    3) Use the Scientific calculator on your updated iPod Touch (2.0)

Tilt your iPod to the side, viola! Scientific calculator it is.

    4) View the lyrics of the song you’re playing (available if the song file has lyrics)

Tap on the screen where the album art usually is.

    5) Delete videos or e-mails, and songs on your On-The-Go easily.

Just swipe to the right, a delete button should appear.

    6) Take screenshots! Yes, you can!
Press the HOLD/POWER button and “the button” at the same time! The saved photo can be viewed at “Photos” > “Saved Photos”. Upload them to your PC by connecting your iPod and through Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard.

    7) Edit your texts.

    Slowly, brush through the word.

    8) Did you know that you can actually read presentations and spreadsheets directly from you iPod???

Example, here’s an e-mail from my cousing, a presentation/slideshow in MS PPT format. Just tap on it and there it is!

    How about MS EXCEL worksheets

    9) Remove applications without iTunes.

Press “the Button” for a few seconds and the icons should start to shake. An “uninstall button” should appear.

If you know more, feel free to comment and add up!
