I was going to write about what GMA said in her 2008 SONA about the 50 centavos SMS rate, and White already did and I’ll post my comment instead.
Hello… AT&T charges $.20 for their SMS (they raised $0.05 last January), correct me ifI’m wrong, that’s equivalent to almost 9 Php (no wonder they don’t have the SMS like the “Peram ng pen”, yeah it’s not right to just convert it to our exchange rate but still, a peso over 9 pesos… HELLO!!!!

To me it’s just a distraction and her way of appealing to the mass (which is pathetic). It’s stupid. They should be looking at diff. things, after all 12% tax in almost everything we use, eat and drink is actually enough if they use it properly and stop using it for their own good (and we can do something about it if we stop electing celebrities or those people who just looks good that’s why we vote for them). Hello… .50 sa text…anu naman magagawa nun???.. kahit nga at 2 pesos per text magttxt pa din tao eh…. Think about the healthy competition bet. the telcos….. And… may promos naman sila a….
Things like these is very frustrating… start doing something about the gas prices etc.. and wag niyo na paginitan yung text rates pleeeeeeease.. (baka maapektuhan pa ang salary ko, which is already maliit, di niyo naisip un noh?? naisip mo ba un mrs. president??? that’s half of their possible profit already noh!) Kung sakali, pucha lahat ng mga inhinyero natin pupunta na dun sa lugar na maraming oil!!! Hala ka! Hello, most telecommunications engineers earn about a million pesos for only 6 mos. sa Dubai and kung saansaan pa (karamihan yung madami ngang oil, hehe un lang alam ko dun e) while here the monthly salary for Smart (for noobs, pero 21 month pay, na pwedeng mawala dahil sa .50 per SMS ni GMA) ranges from 15-20k (sa pagkakaalam ko), Globe 15-20k and sa Sun 12-18k (again, for fresh meat / cadets to)
AT&T’s unlimited plan, ” Unity’s” prices starts at $59.99 which according to Yahoo! is around 2,655.300 Php. Duh!!!!!
I see a pattern…. first the Lopezes with Meralco… now the Lopezes again with Smart… Ayalas with Globe and Gokongwei with Sun…. who’s next GMA????…. Henry Sy or Lucio Tan???…
